Psalm 32: 1-7 A Psam of David
Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgive, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, " I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore, let all the godly confess their rebellion to you hile there is time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement. For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble You surround me with songs of victory.
I love this Psalm it is rich and full of meaning on so many levels. David wrote this and was considered "a man after God's own heart" it says of him in Scripture. Yet here he is pouring out his heart of all his sin and guilt even though considered a godly man. What great encouragement to us all. "If we think we are without sin" John tells us, "then we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" 1Jn 1:8. We are all guilty of sin and rebellion against God because we are born that way. This Psalm is written to Christians and to those who know the LORD to not be deceived that because God has saved you that now you must do it all and earn righteousness through your good works. No friend you are inherently wicked and evil the Bible says and therefore that is why we need salvation through grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone.
Thank you Lord Jesus, for paying the price for me that I never could. On the cross you bore all my sin and reconciled me to God my Father so I may have peace with him and look forward to the resurrection of the dead the life of the world to come. Amen
